The South Whidbey Yacht Club

The SWYC is located on Whidbey Island Washington. Although the Club does not have a permanent club house we enjoy the use of the Honeymoon Lake Community Club's clubhouse on the shores of Holmes Harbour and a few miles north of Freeland on Honeymoon Bay Road.

The Club was formed in 2003 with a few people who were inspired by our founding Commodore, the late Ken Sasson. He was a man with great passion for education and for the ways of the winds and tides. He was also deeply committed to making boating accessible and enjoyable for all ages. The Club has grown rapidly and in 2009 has more than 60 memberships, and more than 100 members. The commitment of the membership in setting the SWYC vision and goals respect and support his memory.

In 2009 the members' ownership of boats over twenty feet totaled 42, almost equally shared between power and sail.

The club members also have a fleet of one design San Francisco Pelicans.

The club's monthly programs are chosen for their relevance to the sea, the environment, and local interests. Non-members are welcome to attend.
